When John Cena called out The Miz on Raw, he not only humiliated the self-proclaimed “Chick Magnet,” but announced that they would be squaring off one-on-one this Sunday at The Bash.

After weeks of listening to The Miz boast about his so-called undefeated streak against John Cena, the former champ announced that he will finally get his hands on the self-proclaimed “chick magnet” at The Bash.

Since being drafted to Raw, The Miz has made it a personal mission to come out and run down one of WWE’s favorite Superstars in John Cena. On numerous occasions, the former tag team champion has mocked many different aspects of Cena’s career in and out of the ring, including his film 12 Rounds, and followed up by extending hollow challenges that he knew Cena couldn’t answer, for on reason or another.

Two weeks ago on Raw, it seemed that Cena would get his chance to shut The Miz up for good, with both Superstars set to face off one-on-one on Raw. Thanks to interference by Big Show prior to the bell being rung, however, the match never took place. Instead, the WWE Universe cringed as The World’s Largest Athlete once again took the opportunity to beat down the 12 Rounds star until The Miz interjected himself, then proceeded to assault an already-prone Cena with a chair.

Now that Cena will have The Miz inside the ring with him at The Bash, the former champion will be looking to gain vengeance – not only for the verbal assaults he has fallen victim to, but for the brutal chair beating as well. It isn’t all bad for the self-proclaimed “future World Champion” though; if he can defeat the Cena, he will certainly cement himself as a force to be reckoned with on Monday nights, and perhaps even a contender for the WWE Championship.

Will Cena silence the former tag team champion for good? Or will The Miz continue his “streak” against the 12 Rounds star and prove that everything he has said for the last several weeks is true? Only one way to find out and that is by watching The Bash live on pay-per-view.

John Cena’s music played. He came to the ring and hyped the Triple H vs. Randy Orton match. He also reminded fans that they would get their money back if they kept their ticket stubs. He introduced a video of The Miz’s anti-Cena statements. Cena called out The Miz.

Miz walked onto the stage and called Cena a coward. Cena pointed out that Miz was saying that from the stage. Miz walked to the ring and joined Cena inside as the fans chanted “You suck” at Miz. He got right in Cena’s face and said, “You’re a coward.” Cena he was going to give Miz exactly what he wants.

Cena said it was good news and bad news for Miz. He said the good news was that for the first time ever, Miz would main event a pay-per-view when he meets Cena at The Bash. He said the bad news was also that Miz has a pay-per-view match with him. Cena said he survived that Hammerstein Ballroom and had 85,000 people tell him he couldn’t wrestle on the grandest stage of them all. “I don’t get rattled,” Cena said.

Cena said people would find out that The Miz isn’t a reality show has-been, but a “WWE never was.” Cena said this was the part where Miz would tuck his tail between his legs and head backstage. Miz paused and eventually threw a punch at Cena, who didn’t sell it. Cena held up six fingers to signify “six days.” Miz headed backstage and Cena eventually followed with a smile on his face…

Big Show defeated John Cena in 10:25. Nice ovation for Cena. He and Show went face-to-face when the bell rang, which helped establish Show’s size advantage. Cena took the early advantage by shoulder blocking Show out of the ring. Cena followed, but Show picked him up and dropped him on the guardrail.

Back inside the ring, Cena made a bit of a comeback. However, Show cut him off and powerbombed Cena, who ended up rolling to ringside. Back inside the ring, Show took control of the offense for an extended period.

[Overrun] Show charged at Cena in the corner. Cena moved and Show crashed into the corner. Cena fired punches, but Show knocked him down and went back to the slow, methodical offense. Show controlled the match for the next few minutes and missed a Vader Bomb.

Cena started to come back, but Miz came to ringside and distracted him. Show chokeslammed Cena and scored the pin thanks to the distraction by Miz. After the match, Show headed backstage. Miz entered the ring and stood over the fallen Cena.

John Cena defeated Randy Orton by DQ when Legacy interfered.

John Cena gets a reaction like no one else I’ve been to a show to see. The arena was 90 percent cheers for the guy and kids are just going crazy jumping all over and screaming, he could do no wrong. Finish came when Legacy broke up an STFU. The Colons surprisingly make the save and once again Cody is left alone in the ring to play the bitch. He gets surrounded with all three guys taking their shots at him. Cena even busted out a flip-flop and fly bionic elbow before hitting the FU/Attitude Adjuster to send the crowd home happy.

John Cena and Triple H beat Big Show and Randy Orton. A good match that the entire crowd was into. Probably 15 minutes long if not a bit more. All the usual tag team stuff with Cena waiting for a tag for most of the match. Cena hit the Attitude Adjustment on Big Show, and Triple H hit the pedigree for the win. They celebrated in the ring for a while and got the fans riled up. They gave high fives all around the front rows.

Joe K. sent along the following John Cena interview recap conducted in the WGN booth at the Chicago Cubs MLB game this past Saturday afternoon:

They introduced him as a three-time champ and Cena didn’t correct that he was a five-time champ. They talked about how a lot of MLB players like him and that Alfonso Soriano is a big fan of his, which segued into them talking about Soriano doing the “You Can’t See Me” gesture.

They asked how Cena came up with it and he said it was his little brother who came up with it and used it as an insult against him. He told his brother he was going to steal it and use it in the ring. His brother said he was bluffing so Cena took it as a challenge and told him he would get it on TV and it stuck.

They talked about him throwing out the first pitch and he said it was the most nervous he has ever been and that he has performed in front of 80,000 people a WrestleMania. They then thanked him and showed highlights of him throwing out the first pitch and one of the grounds crew members giving him a chop on the chest. At the top of the next inning, the announcers said that sometimes the toughest guys are the nicest and that he was one of the nicest guys they’ve had in the booth.
